iOS devices are beautiful examples of industrial design and we know they can also resist the most terrible accidents thanks to their great build quality, but none of them is as cute as the plasticine iPad 2 we found on Youtube. Perfectly “compatible” with multitouch and coming with a handful of third-party apps installed, this alleged prototype from Cupertino (not really, but we like the idea) does 3D projections without glasses as well, with real-time manipulation. Of course it also does games, maps, Twitter and web browsing.
This is a really cute video, as featured on MacStories, that is the highly creative work of someone called Svetlana Shokhanova, who is based in the Ukraine, and who has made a plasticine iPad 2 and filmed it in stop-frame animation. You can tell it’s an iPad 2 because it’s got the two camera holes, although sadly no SmartCover! Just take a look, it really is amazing! Watch as the volume switch turns the sound up, and then the plasticine iPad 2’s owner starts using apps, such as Google Maps, which actually has a 3D plasticine earth. There’s even a plasticine version of Cut the Rope, with a cute little plasticine Om Nom, which looks just as much fun, if not more, than the real thing. What looks like a plasticine version of GarageBand is also featured, complete with musical sound effects. Be sure to take a look at the video, it’s only 1:25 seconds out of your day, but it will really make you smile. And as one of the comments underneath says, “This should be an iPad ad. For real.”
Seriously though, the work that went into this stop-animation video must have been huge, and you should check it out below.
